MeaningfulWork received the award after delivering a pitch highlighting his personal journey towards entrepreneurship and MeaningfulWork. [The Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA)](https://gsea.org/) is the premier global competition for students who own and operate a business while attending college or university. Nominees compete against their peers from around the world in a series of local and/or national competitions in hopes to qualify for GSEA Finals. Founded in 1998 by Saint Louis University, GSEA is now an Entrepreneurs’ Organization program supporting student entrepreneurs who require much-needed mentorship, recognition and connections to take their businesses to the next level of success. Shortlisted as one of the top three competitors in Vancouver, Leejoo Hwang and MeaningfulWork competed against students from University of British Columbia and University of Calgary with biotech and veterinary-tech ventures. MeaningfulWork was awarded first place prize of $1,500 in cash prizes alongside sponsorship prizes and placed top 6 at national competition in Toronto.  Kris Alexander, one of the three judges said “Leejoo's drive and motivation in creating a better world were inspiring. From his work in the downtown eastside to various community projects and previous start-up. Leejoo strongly demonstrated the values of EO to take smart risks, an unbelievable thirst for learning and innovating for the future. I'm excited to watch Leejoo build MeaningfulWork and the underserved market of engaging companies in corporate social responsibility through employee volunteer programs.” Leejoo Hwang, said: “Our achievement at EO GSEA exemplifies the competency that youth entrepreneurs like myself can bring to the business table. I plan to continue leading MeaningfulWork and spreading  the importance of corporate social responsibility and purpose in business especially as we recover from the Covid-19 Pandemic.
