Surrey, BC - MeaningfulWork, developer of a purpose community platform that enables companies to engage in corporate social responsibility through employee volunteer, received third place at Queen’s Entrepreneurs’ Competition in Kingston, Ontario in January.

MeaningfulWork received the award after delivering a pitch highlighting the importance of corporate social responsibility in building back better. 

[The Queen’s Entrepreneurs’ Competition](https://theqec.com/) provides entrepreneurs and start ups with opportunities and resources needed in order for their businesses to accelerate and flourish. The New York Times calls the Queen's Entrepreneurs' Competition (QEC) "one of the longest-running and best-known undergraduate business plan competitions in the world."

Selected as one of the top 15 startups around the world in the QEC application pool, MeaningfulWork competed against teams from Harvard University, MIT, McGill University, University of Toronto, ESCP, University of Maryland, and more; judged by notable entrepreneurs and investors including Anatoily Melnichuk CEO of Safe Direct and Co-Founder of Groupon, Peter Wilson, Executive Chairman of Wilson International, Prathna Ramesh, Managing Director of Maple Leaf Angels among others.

MeaningfulWork was awarded third place prize of $5,000 in cash prizes alongside sponsorship prizes. 

Leejoo Hwang, MeaningfulWork Director of Business, said: “Our achievement at QEC exemplifies the importance of corporate social responsibility and purpose in business especially as we recover from the Covid-19 Pandemic. The recognition from QEC will further fuel and build upon the momentum to help companies engage in responsibility and purpose.”

MeaningfulWork is a social venture based out of the SFU’s Coast Capital Savings Venture Connections Incubator. Their platform intelligently matches nonprofits and skilled corporate employees to work on social and environmental impact projects in their communities. They provide nonprofits with expert advice, companies with more engaged and fulfilled employees, and meaningful relationships between companies and nonprofits. Their recent funding success has provided them with the capacity to expand their meaningful work to support others.
